Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate is a fabulous lightweight ingredient that works wonders for skin hydration and overall health. Being a modified form of Sodium Hyaluronate, it offers better skin penetration to hydrate the skin from within and leave it more supple and resilient. What is HYDROLYZED SODIUM HYALURONATE used for?

Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate is prized in the personal care industry due to its ability to deeply hydrate the skin and support barrier repair. Although not as common, it is also sometimes used in hair care products for its miraculous properties.

For skin: Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate is popularly used in products like serums and moisturizers to reach beyond the surface and deeply hydrate the skin. It plumps the skin and improves firmness and elasticity. As it reduces water loss from the skin, it helps soften the appearance of fine lines and creases - resulting in a smoother, more youthful texture over time. Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate is also known for its ability to reduce redness and inflammation.

For hair: In hair serums and leave-in treatments, Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate is used to hydrate the scalp and retain moisture in the hair strands. This ingredient is especially beneficial for dry, flaky, or irritated scalp.

Origin

Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate is made by breaking down Sodium Hyaluronate - which is derived from Hyaluronic Acid. Sodium Hyaluronate has a higher molecular weight, which, when broken into smaller fragments, can penetrate deeper into the skin and be more beneficial. To do so, Sodium Hyaluronate is subjected to a controlled hydrolysis process, which forms Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate. The final ingredient is filtered and purified for use in cosmetics.

Safety Profile

Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate is quite safe for both leave-on and rinse-off formulations. It is well tolerated by all skin types, including sensitive and acne-prone. However, it should only be used up to a 5% concentration. When combined with other types of hyaluronic acids, 0.1% - 0.5% is advised. Additionally, Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate is non-comedogenic and has an extremely low sensitization potential.
