HYDROGENATED VEGETABLE GLYCERIDES

Last update on May 15, 2026

Hydrogenated Vegetable Glycerides is a fully plant-derived emollient and co-emulsifier obtained by hydrogenating vegetable oils and converting them into glycerides. It provides a rich, creamy texture, excellent skin-softening properties, and helps stabilize emulsions. This versatile ingredient is widely used in moisturizers, creams, lotions, balms, and hair care products to improve consistency, emolliency, and skin feel while supporting natural and clean beauty claims.

What is HYDROGENATED VEGETABLE GLYCERIDES used for?

  • Emollient / Skin conditioning: Softens and smooths the skin with a rich, non-greasy feel. Frequently used in rich creams, body butters, and barrier repair products.
  • Co-emulsifier: Helps stabilize oil-in-water emulsions. Common in natural creams and lotions when combined with primary emulsifiers.
  • Viscosity controlling: Contributes to thicker, more luxurious textures in anhydrous balms and emulsions.

Origin

Hydrogenated Vegetable Glycerides is produced by the catalytic hydrogenation of vegetable oils (such as palm, soybean, or sunflower oil) to saturate the fatty acids, followed by glycerolysis to form mono-, di-, and triglycerides. It is a renewable, plant-based ingredient and is often RSPO-certified for sustainability.
