This webinar presented results comparing thermal initiation of main polymerization to redox initiation at low temperatures. Specifically, the impact on polymer properties, performance, and monomer conversion was the focus of the experimental work.

For this purpose, an acrylic latex of butyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate, and methacrylic acid was produced. Data was developed comparing the thermally initiated latex to one using redox for the main polymerization.

A redox post reaction was then performed for each case and the residual monomer levels and polymer properties are shown to compare the performance of each test. Moreover, the potential for shorter cycle times and substantial energy savings was part of the evaluations.
