Advancing rheology control: Overcoming viscosity drop in tinted water-based coatings

Tinting dark and vibrant shades often leads to frustrating viscosity drops, inconsistent application properties, and increased formulation costs. For coating formulators and manufacturers, this means balancing performance with profitability while meeting customer expectations for smooth application and flawless color consistency. Traditional solutions have relied on adding extra rheology modifiers into base paints—an approach that drives up cost without fully solving the problem.
In this webinar, Elementis experts will introduce next-generation multifunctional additive technology designed to mitigate these issues. Featuring an advanced hydrophobic backbone polymer, this solution enhances efficiency, stabilizes viscosity, and improves sag resistance and levelling—all without compromising color development or regulatory compliance.
Attendees will gain insights into experimental results across satin deep base paints and acrylic enamels, showcasing how this new additive technology reduces post-tinting viscosity loss from 28 KU to just 3 KU, reduce thickener consumption, and achieve perfect flow, leveling and opacity. Whether your focus is on formulating high-performance paints, meeting eco-label standards, or driving efficiency in manufacturing, this webinar will equip you with practical strategies to optimize your formulation.
