High efficiency alkali swellable emulsion thickener. Offers direct stirring into latex under low shear. Develops viscosity upon addition of neutralizing bases. Provides good electrolyte (salt) stability. Exhibits rheology which is "long" and “leggy”. Used for applications like textile coatings, and foam coatings. Approved by FDA under 175.105, 175.300, 175.320, 175.380, 175.390, 176.180 and 177.1210. Carbopol® EP-1 by Lubrizol is a high efficiency alkali swellable emulsion thickener. Offers direct stirring into latex under low shear. Develops viscosity upon addition of neutralizing bases. Provides good electrolyte stability. Exhibits rheology which is predominately short and buttery with a slight leggy characteristic. Used for applications like textile and paper coatings. Prevents settling of inorganic particles at low dosages. Imparts improved gloss to the finished coatings. It has a shelf life of 1 year. Approved by FDA under 175.105, 175.300, 175.320, 175.360, 175.380, 175.390, 176.170, 176.180 and 177.1210. Recommended dosage level of Carbopol® EP-1 is 0.5-2%.
