Bentone SD® -2 by Elementis acts as a rheological additive for moderate to high polarity solvents ketones, esters, glycol ethers and alcohols, including polar systems with some aromatic solvents. It is an organic derivative of a bentonite clay.

It provides stable viscosity build, controls sag and pigment settling.

It offers easy incorporation and eliminates need for pregel and chemical activator.

It is a cost-effective replacement for conventional organoclay additives.

It can be added as a powder to the millbase either before or after the pigment dispersion or during letdown.

It disperses very easily, even under low shear conditions.

Bentone SD® -2 is suitable for anti-corrosion paints, automotive finishes/primers, foundry paints, gravure printing inks, industrial finishes, inorganic zinc-rich coatings, maintenance coatings, NC lacquers/inks, vinyl paints.

Recommended dosage level is 0.2-1%.

It has a shelf life of 4 years.

Bentone SD® -1 by Elementis is a very easily dispersible, rheological additive for systems containing primarily aliphatic and other non-polar to medium-polarity solvents. It is an organic derivative of a bentonite clay. It provides viscosity increase, reduces sagging of coatings on vertical surfaces and prevents settling of pigments and fillers.

It is a cost-effective replacement for conventional organoclay additives.

It eliminates the need for pregel and needs no chemical activator.

It can be added at any point in the paint manufacturing process.

Bentone SD® -1 is used in anti-corrosive paints, bituminous coatings, decorative alkyd paints, do-it-yourself paints, printing inks, primers, fillers, undercoats, traffic paints and wood stains.

Recommended dosage level is 0.2-2% by weight of the system.

It has a shelf life of 4 years.

Bentone SD® -3 by Elementis is an organic derivative of hectorite clay-based highly efficient rheological additive. It is designed for use in coating systems with a wide range of solvent polarities. It offers improved dispersibility characteristics and provides stable viscosity, controls sag and suspends pigments.

It disperses readily when added directly at the pigment-grinding stage and improves batch-to batch consistency.

It does not require pre-gelling or a chemical activator, enabling fast plant throughput and efficient processing.

It proves to be a cost-effective alternative to other organoclay rheological additives and fumed silica.

Bentone SD® -3 is used for applications like acrylic paints, anti-corrosion maintenance paints, automotive finishes/primers, bituminous coatings, chlorinated rubber paints, decorative coatings, gravure printing inks, hammer finishes, industrial finishes, marine paints, oil paints, polyester paints, primers, and vinyl paints (high build).

It is suitable for alkyd, epoxy and PU two pack-systems.

Recommended dosage level is 0.2-1% by weight.

It has a shelf life of 4 years.
