Coating ingredients supplied by Dow
Mitsui Chemicals has developed MIPELON™ - a series of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) grades. Addition of MIPELON™ to various resins, rubber, greases, and coating materials results in improved self-lubrication, abrasion resistance and chemical resistance. Good dispersion property of MIPELON™ results in exceptional mechanical properties.

MIPELON™ grades can be successfully reduced to fine particles having an average particle size of 25 to 30 μm with Mitsui's special polymerization technique, and retaining its high molecular weight.

It imparts slow evaporation rate, and very low water solubility. It exhibits miscibility with many common organic solvents. It is used in latex architectural trade paints, printing inks and industrial coatings. Other applications include lacquer thinners and wood lacquers.

UCAR™ VMCC Solution Vinyl Resin

UCAR™ VMCC Solution Vinyl Resin by Dow is medium molecular weight vinyl resin comprised of vinyl chloride, vinyl acetate, and maleic acid. It possesses lower viscosity/higher solids than UCAR VMCH solution vinyl resin. UCAR™ VMCC Solution Vinyl Resin is used to make heat-sealable packaging coatings, metal coatings, and maintenance and marine coatings, as well as a wide variety of clear and pigmented inks and coatings for paper, film, foil, and fabric.

UCAR™ Latex DA27

Acrylic latex. Used as a versatile multi-purpose interior/exterior topcoat binder. Gives alkali resistance, and adhesion to galvanized metals. Can be used as a binder for tannin block primers and topcoats for staining woods such as cedar and redwood, and for wood-based products such as ceiling tiles. Can also be used as a binder for specialty primers for masonry or galvanized substances. Enhances adhesion and early blister resistance performance of vinyl acrylic latex binders.
