About 3M

Founded in 1902 and headquartered in Minnesota, USA, 3M is a science and innovation company providing solutions for paints and coatings. The additives and resins offered by 3M improve opacity, viscosity, flow, leveling, and sprayability. 3M strives to use technology and expertise to promote a future where resources are circulated and nature is regenerated. This means developing solutions that do more with less material and helps in advancing a global circular economy. It also means accelerating global climate solutions and decarbonizing the industry. Their coating additives and resins are US FDA labeled. Their portfolio consists of additives like fillers, crosslinking agents, wetting agents, thickeners, flow agents, and surface modifiers, and resins like fluoropolymers.

3M™Novec™ Fluorosurfactant FC-4430

3M™Novec™ Fluorosurfactant FC-4430 by 3M acts as a flow, levelling and wetting agent. It is a non-ionic polymeric fluorochemical surfactant. Suitable for water-borne, solvent-borne and high-solids organic polymer systems. Exhibits good thermal stability and is very efficient at reducing the surface tension in aqueous systems. Designed for inks, architectural & industrial coatings, water reducible and radiation curable coatings. Complies with TSCA and REACH regulations. Recommended dosage level of 3M™Novec™ Fluorosurfactant FC-4430 is 0.05% to 0.3%.

3M™ Dyneon™ PTFE Micropowder TF 9205

3M™ Dyneon™ PTFE Micropowder TF 9205 by 3M acts as anti-stick agents. It is a micro powder that lowers coefficient of friction when blended into other polymers or liquids. In addition, it can be effective as a rheological modifier (thickening agent)and significantly increases viscosity when added to liquids and this feature is less temperature-dependent than many other modifiers. It exhibits chemical and thermal stability. It is highly hydrophobic filler and can be used to improve abrasion resistance. Because of its small particle size coupled with good free-flowing properties, it exhibits very good metering behavior and can be easily incorporated into other materials (even in dry blends). It can be added to lubricant oils/greases and waxes, polymers, paints, elastomers and coatings. It is recommended for use in printing inks and antifriction coatings in the non-food sector. Typical additional quantity varies between 1-20% depending on the selected matrix and the desired properties. 3M™ Dyneon™ PTFE Micropowder TF 9205 approved by the German Federal Institute for Consumer Health Protection and Veterinary Medicine (BgVV).

3M™ Glass Bubbles K15

3M™ Glass Bubbles K15 by 3M is a soda-lime-borosilicate glass filler having low alkalinity, high strength, low density and lower film permeability. Shows chemical-, water-, abrasion-, scrub and burnish resistance. Offers uniform sheen, high-build/ low-slump, higher filler loading, reduced gloss, shrinkage and warpage. Recommended for oil & gas outdoor storage tanks, cryogenic tanks & tankers and gel coats for boat cabins. Exhibits chemical inertness, exterior solar reflectivity, low thermal conductivity, low dielectric constant and easier washability. It improves opacity, viscosity, flow, levelling and sprayability. 3M™ Glass Bubbles K15 is also used in solar reflective coatings for roofs, exterior walls, mobile phones, caravans, refrigerated storage warehouses and refrigerated trucks. Applicable for architectural, anti-condensation and industrial paints & coatings like maintenance coatings for bridges, truck under-carriages & other exposed metal structures and epoxy floor coatings. It is a non-combustible and non-porous grade.
