DAXSOL® Dimethyl carbonate by UBE is a clear, colorless, environmentally friendly green solvent synthesized from carbon monoxide. It is VOC-free with mild & non-offensive odor, low toxicity, rapid biodegradability and low bioaccumulation. It is suitable for directly replacing polar non-sustainable solvents, such as ketones, esters, glycols, toluene, xylene, methyl ethyl ketone and n-butyl acetate. It is used as raw material for several methylation, carboxylation and carbomethoxylation processes, including pharmaceutical synthesis.
- It shows fast-evaporating rate, miscibility with most of organic solvents, partial solubility in water, and similar melting & boiling points to water.
- It is non-mutagenic, non-HAPs and has low MIR values.
- It is also used as an electrolyte in lithium-ion batteries (LIB) in notebook PCs and cell phones, hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs).
