Exceval® RS-1717 by Kuraray is a medium hydrophobically modified polyvinyl alcohol. Offers excellent water resistance and chemical resistance. Provides good adhesion to metallization as well as excellent printability. The resulting coatings are highly transparent and glossy. It shows strong oil and gas barriers e.g. toward oxygen, carbon dioxide and various aromas even at elevated relative humidity. It is an excellent gap filler between paper pulp which results in less permeability of liquids. It is applicable in textile sizing & finishing, photosensitive- and pigmented paper coatings. Exceval® RS-1717 is also used in barrier coating of films, paper and other substrates from aqueous solutions. It is certified by FDA regulations.
