Elvanol™ 90-50 by Kuraray is a medium viscosity, fully hydrolyzed polyvinyl alcohol. Offers excellent film forming and binder characteristics, along with insolubility in cold water and organic solvents. It shows good oil-, acid- and alkaline resistance. It exhibits thermal stability, elasticity, lower hygroscopicity than other water-soluble polymers. It possesses good tensile-, tear- and abrasion strength properties. It is designed to provide high film strength and binding power in relatively low-viscosity systems. It dissolves in certain organic solvents such as glycols, DMSO and phenol. Elvanol™ 90-50 is suitable for paper coating applications. It complies with the regulation of FDA 21 CFR 175.300, 175.320, 176.170(b) and 176.180.
