Supplied byElementis- Last Updated on May 18, 2024

RHEOLATE® 278 by Elementis is a polyurethane solution in a mixture of water/diethylene glycol ether. Acts as an associative thickener designed for use in paints containing small-particle-size emulsions and high-volume-solids systems. It provides superior thickening efficiency in the high-shear range (ICI viscosity).
  • It offers high-shear viscosity and good brush drag.
  • It enhances film build and imparts very good flow and leveling.
  • It reduces spattering during roller application.
  • It exhibits good color acceptance and pH-independent rheology.
  • It offers easy incorporation and enzyme resistance.
  • It allows broad formulating flexibility and shows good compatibility with other rheological additives.
  • RHEOLATE® 278 is suitable for applications like gloss and satin-gloss emulsion paints, and emulsion paints for interior and exterior applications based on pure acrylic or copolymer binders.
  • The shelf life of the grade is 2 years.
