Butanoic acid, 3-oxo-, 2-[(2-methyl-1-oxo-2-propenyl) oxy] ethyl ester. Provides improved adhesion to metal substrates, outstanding flexibility, corrosion resistance and low glass transition temperature for improved coating flexibility. Offers reaction with conventional crosslinkers such as isocyanate-free crosslinking reactions. Possesses the ability to react with amines and hydrazides. Shows resin viscosity reduction for lower VOC emissions and room temperature cure. Readily polymerizes with other acrylic and methacrylic monomers. Used in UV-cure applications, self-crosslinkable acrylic emulsions and acetoacetylated polymers cross-linked through chelation with metal ions. Applications include high-solids solution acrylic resins in industrial and architectural coatings. Complies with TSCA (US Toxic Substances Control Act), DSL (Canadian Domestic Substances List), AICS / NICNAS (Australian Inventory of Chemical Substances and National Industrial Chemicals Notification and Assessment Scheme), MITI (Japanese Handbook of Existing and New Chemical Substances), ECL (Korean Toxic Substances Control Act), Philippines Inventory (PICCS) and Inventory of Existing Chemical Substances in China (IECSC).
