Rheovis® HS 1212

Supplied byBASF- Last Updated on May 25, 2025

Rheovis® HS 1212 by BASF acts as a mid-shear thickener and rheology-control agent. It is a hydrophobic modified acrylic swellable copolymer emulsion (HASE) in water. It improves flow and is most effective between pH 8 to 10. It provides the rheology–control effect through extensive swelling of the high-molecular-weight polymer in combination with a hydrophobic component in alkali, in the presence of water. This leads to superior coatings-build up and low spattering, ideal for a broad range of matt to semi-gloss interior and exterior coatings. Rheovis® HS 1212 is suitable for water based coatings to increase viscosity in the mid-shear range. Its typical dosage is between 1.0 to 3.5 %.
