Rheovis® CR2

Supplied byBASF- Last Updated on May 20, 2025

Rheovis® CR2 by BASF acts as a rheological control additive for water-borne coating systems. It is designed to give a more newtonian rheology. It provides optimum flow and leveling properties for semi-gloss and high-build coatings.
  • It is less susceptible to microbiological attack than derivatives of cellulose.
  • It is most effective over a pH range of 7.5-10.
  • It should preferably be added at the final stage of manufacturing the coating since destabilization can occur at high shear stress.
  • The post-addition offers flexibility in viscosity adjustment from batch to batch.
  • After addition, the pH is adjusted with alkali, ammonia, or other bases to achieve full and stable viscosity.
  • The recommended dilution factor is 1 part of the additive and 5 parts of water.
  • Rheovis® CR2 has a recommended usage level of 1.0-3.5% based on total formulation.
