Supplied byAshland- Last Updated on May 26, 2026

Culminal™ MHEC 15000 PFR by Ashland is a water-soluble, non-ionic cellulose ether. It is used to give water retention in water-based paints and varnishes, to control rheology and consistency of water-based paints, to stabilize pigments and fillers, as a binding and viscosity control agent in enamels, as a thickener of printing inks, and in textile coatings. It can be used as a protective colloid, suspending agent, binder, and stabilizer. It offers good temperature stability and compatibility with many materials including surfactants and polymers such as CMC, starch, guar, and alginates. It is also used to control in-can consistency, flow and leveling, high shear viscosity, and storage stability of interior and exterior flat emulsion paints. Culminal™ MHEC 15000 PFR shows delayed solubility.
