Slip Control Agents for Coatings and Inks

Luna-add 4101 distributed by DKSH is an amide wax, improved benzoin degassing agent and slip additive. It reduces yellowing and eliminate pinholes. It is effective in HAA systems at thicker film builds.

• It is able to be used with a wide variety of resin systems and improves scratch resistance and film appearance.

AHA4101 distributed by DKSH acts as an amide wax-improved benzoin based slip and degassing agent, or melt viscosity modifier, used in powder coatings such as polyesters-TGIC, polyurethanes, hybrids, epoxies, and acrylics, particularly for polyester-HAA systems.

• It helps eliminate pinholes, reduce yellowing, and improve film quality, appearance, and gloss, especially in thicker film builds.
• The combination of wax and benzoin in this product enhances air release, surface slip, powder processing, and scratch resistance.
• Recommended usage level is 0.5-1.5% by weight, calculated on total formulation depending on the gloss required.
• It has a shelf life of 1 year.

EBECRYL® 341 by allnex is a low viscosity, low odor, silicone-free slip additive master batch. It provides improvement of slip between UV/EB cured coatings, good inter-coat adhesion and glueability. EBECRYL® 341 is recommended for use in overprint varnish and other radiation curable formulations where good slip properties are required and silicone additives must be avoided. It can be used at levels between 1 and 10%. The shelf life is 2 years.

TEGO® Glide 482 distributed by DKSH is an outstanding slip and anti-blocking properties in waterborne coatings. It is low foam, easy to incorporate and exhibits excellent haptics benefits. It is used in architectural-, wood-, furniture-, leather-, can-, coil-, decorative-, general industrial coatings and printing inks.

Efka® SL 3288 by BASF is an organically modified polysiloxane. Acts as an abrasion resistant, anti-blocking agent, slip control agent, leveling agent and scratch resistance agent. It improves slip, leveling, surface smoothness and soft-touch effect. It shows minimal effect on foam stabilization and intercoat adhesion. Efka® SL 3288 is used in solvent-based, high gloss- and water-based industrial coatings. Recommended dosage is 0.02-0.2% for solvent-wood coatings, 0.05-0.3% for solvent based industrial coatings, 0.05-05% for UV curing system and 0.02-0.2% for water based paint.

Glycolube® VL by Arxada acts as an anti-blocking and slip agent. It provides excellent clarity and printability in finished products. It is suitable for use in printing ink vehicles and permits overprinting without loss of adhesion.

• It complies with FDA 21 CFR 175.300, 175.320, 176.170, 176.180, 177.1200, and 178.3860 regulations.
• It is listed on EPA TSCA 8 (b).
• The recommended dosage level is 0.25–2.0 phr for typical blown films and calendared sheets.

Efka® SL 3030 (Old name: Efka® 3030) by BASF acts as a slip and leveling agent. It is also used as defoamer and de-aeration aid. It is an organically modified polysiloxane. It exhibits increased scratch and abrasion resistance. It prevents floating and cratering even in excessively high concentrations. It imparts anti-blocking characteristics. Efka® SL 3030 is used in water- and solvent-based industrial coatings, in particular spray applications. Its recommended dosage level is 0.1-0.3%.

TEGO® Glide 496 distributed by DKSH is an outstanding slip and touch properties without compromising recoatability and compatibility. It exhibits excellent leveling and anti-crater properties. It is used in architectural-, wood-, transportation-, can-, coil-, decorative-, general industrial coatings and printing inks.

• Recommended usage level is 0.1-1.0%.

Efka® SL 3031 (old name: Efka® 3031) by BASF acts as a slip-, leveling- and anti-blocking agent. It is an organically modified polysiloxane in alkylbenzene. Increases slip and surface smoothness. Prevents cratering and decreases pigment floating. Reduces sensitivity to air-draughts and offers compatibility with all medium to high-polarity solvent based systems. Does not influence curtain stability. Possesses high surface activity. Designed for solvent-based metal, wood and paper coatings including UV-cured. Recommended dosage level of Efka® SL 3031 is 0.1-0.3%. It has a shelf life of 4 years.

Efka® SL 3257 by BASF is an organo-modified polysiloxane. Acts as a slip control agent and leveling agent. Exhibits very good substrate wetting and reduction of surface tension. Offers improved gloss, scratch resistance and leveling. Shows compatibility with a wide range of resins. Provides slip modified surfaces which are conducive to recoatability. Also provides very efficient reduction of COF (coefficient of friction). Efka® SL 3257 is used in printing inks, coatings and paints. The recommended dosage is 0.05-1%.
