Plasticizers for Coatings and Inks

Dapro® FX 511 by Elementis is a low odor coalescing agent. It is a strong solvent and plasticizer for polymeric particles which are based on polyacrylics, polystyrene-acrylics, polyvinyl acetates and other commonly used homo-, co- and terpolymeric dispersions.

• It is added to latex, plaster and dispersion paints in order to reduce the minimum film formation temperature and to facilitate the coalescence of the polymeric dispersion particles during drying.
• Dapro® FX 511 improves the scrub resistance of normal and high-loaded dispersion paints.
• Recommended dosage level is 0.2-2%.
• It has a shelf life of 3 years.

Ketjenflex® 8 by Axcentive is an adhesion promoting flexibilizer for solvent-based inks based on NC, PU, vinyl, PA, and PVB. Gloss enhancer for direct printing on paper and foil. Particularly suited for adhesion promotion in lamination inks for multiwall bags. Ketjenflex® 8 complies with AICS, DSL, China IECSC, EU EINECS/ELINCS, Japan ENCS, Korea KECL, NZloc, PICCS, Taiwan TCSI, TSCA, SWISS, REACH and FDA.

Dapro® FX 514 by Elementis is a VOC-free, low odor plasticizer prepared from renewable resources. It provides enhanced tackiness and flexibility.

• It is used in coatings.
• Recommended dosage level is 1-5% by weight of the formulation.
• Dapro® FX 514 has a shelf life of 3 years from the date of manufacture.

ADDITOL® E 04697 by allnex is a liquid polyester resin to be used as polymeric plasticizer for soft PVC. It provides oil migration resistance. This product is optimized for melting and homogenization processes with low volatility and high heat resistance. It is used in paints and coatings. The shelf life of ADDITOL® E 04697 is 12 months.

FLUBE® CR 100 F distributed by DKSH is a super-plasticizer. It shows moderate hygroscopicity and has compatibility with non-ionic and anionic products. It is recommended for coating applications. It is suitable for concrete mixes. The shelf life of the FLUBE® CR 100 F is 24 months when stored in a dry place. It is available only in Asia/Pacific regions.

Ketjenflex® MH by Axcentive is a plasticizing coresin for overprint varnishes and solvent based inks based on NC, PU, and PA. Improves film toughness and aesthetics. Ketjenflex® MH complies with AICS, DSL, China IECSC, EU EINECS/ELINCS, Japan ENCS, Korea KECL, NZloc, PICCS, Taiwan TCSI, TSCA, SWISS, REACH and US FDA.

NEOSORB® 70/70 distributed by DKSH is a plasticizer to increase flexibility. It is an aqueous solution of hydrogenated saccharides. It shows a low tendency to crystallization. NEOSORB® 70/70 is recommended for paints & coatings and is available in Asia/Pacific region.

PMDA distributed by DKSH acts as a curing agent, plasticizer, phenolics stabilizer and corrosion inhibitor. It is a chief material for high-temperature insulants. It is suitable for insulating paints.

• It is used as a matt hardener for powder coatings.
• PMDA is available in Europe, USA and Middle East regions.

Luna-cizer C6 distributed by DKSH is an excellent plasticizer of polyamide and cellulose resins. It has good compatibility with coatings and printing inks. It is available in Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain & United Kingdom.

Phosflex® 71B by ICL is a mixture of butylated (primarily monotbutylphenyl) triphenyl phosphate ester made from readily available synthetic feedstock. It is an effective flame-retardant plasticizer. Exhibits high thermal stability and improved melt flow characteristics. Shows good compatibility in PVC and other plastics such as modified PPO and PC/ABS alloys. Phosflex® 71B is also suitable for paint and coating intumescent and non-intumescent epoxy systems. It provides improved flame retardancy to non-intumescent system combined with brominated flame retardants. For intumescent systems, addition of Phosflex® 71B as plasticizer modifies the initial liquid/viscous matrix and the resulting char.
