Organic Pigments for Coatings and Inks

Tallicin® K-9 by Pflaumer Brothers is a polymeric dispersant with multiple anchor groups that can be used to disperse inorganic and organic pigments. It improves pigment wetting, color development and storage stability. It is used in solvent-based coatings, industrial maintenance coatings, offset inks and powder coatings.

• It is effective in reducing viscosity for dispersions of both oxidized and non-oxidized carbon black.
• It allows the formulator to increase the pigment loading in the mill base, thus improving both efficiency and cost of production.
• Recommended dosage level is 2 and 20% based upon pigment weight if the surface area of the pigment is unknown.

Tallicin® K-8 by Pflaumer Brothers acts as a dispersing agent. It helps produce a high gloss effect as it eliminates bubbles and craters seen in dip tank applications. it is used to disperse inorganic and organic pigments in a variety of systems such as solvent-based coatings, inks, powder coatings.

NUOSPERSE® FA 196 by Elementis is an anionic, highly concentrated liquid pigment dispersing agent for carbon black and organic pigment. It is suitable for thermoplastic acrylic systems and as an auxiliary product to improve the action of universal tinting pastes in basic alkyd paints.

• It offers strong adsorption on a wide range of pigment surfaces, improves color development, gives good and fast dispersion, reduces rub-up and color float, improves compatibility of universal colorants.
• It enables the replacement of various more specific dispersants with just one product.
• NUOSPERSE® FA 196 is used for organic solvent-borne paint and ink systems including oxidatively drying systems and thermoplastic systems.
• It has a shelf life of 3 years from the date of manufacture.
• The recommended dosage level is 0.2-0.4% calculated on the total quantity of alkyd paint.

NUOSPERSE® FX 600 by Elementis is a highly effective pigment dispersing agent. It is a multi-functional polymer, free of organic solvents. It ensures a strong interaction with a wide range of pigments, owing to its multi-functional structure.

• It adsorbed strongly onto inorganic pigments such as titanium dioxide and iron oxides (yellow, red or black) but also onto organic pigments such as fast red, quindo magenta, phthalo blue and green.
• It exhibits optimized stabilization of pigments in aqueous systems.
• It is suitable for use with a wide variety of binders such as baked acrylic dispersions, air-drying alkyds, polyester-melamines, 2-pack epoxies, acrylates.
• It offers high gloss levels, optimal opacity, consistent quality, improved corrosion resistance.
• It provides improved pigment wetting resulting in shorter grind times and cost savings.
• NUOSPERSE® FX 600 is used for waterborne industrial coatings, protective coatings, gloss dispersion paints, colorants, printing inks, also used in pigment concentrates for tinting paints, leather finishes, textiles, plastics, inks, etc. Recommended dosage level as a pigment dispersant 0.5-2.0% for paint, 0.5-3.0% for printing ink and 1-15% for pigment concentrates.

DCC Yellow 7351 distributed by DKSH is a benzimidazolone-based high-performance green shade yellow pigment. It exhibits heat stability, excellent light- and good weather fastness and over paint resistance.

• It is used in high-end coating applications where excellent glass retention is required.
• It shows excellent resistance against methyl ethyl ketone-, water-, mineral spirits-, xylene-, ethanol-, ethyl acetate-, acid- and alkali.
• DCC Yellow 7351 is used in decorative-, automotive/aerospace-, industrial- and powder coatings.
• It is available in India and Portugal.

DCC Yellow 7151 distributed by DKSH is a high-performance green shade yellow benzimidazolone-based organic pigment. It exhibits heat stability, excellent light fastness and overfastness resistance. It offers very good ethanol & acid resistance.

• It is used in high-end coatings applications where excellent weatherfastness is required.
• It shows excellent resistance against methyl ethyl ketone, water, mineral spirits, xylene, and ethyl acetate.
• DCC Yellow 7151 is used in decorative, automotive-, industrial- and powder coatings.
• It is available in Portugal and Australia.

Terasperse® 2200 by Pflaumer Brothers acts as a dispersing agent for both organic and inorganic pigments for a wide variety of water-based systems, including urethanes, alkyds, acrylics, polyesters and epoxies. It offers excellent color and gloss stability on aging of dispersions, high pigment/binder ratios and a lower level of grinding resin that gives extra flexibility in formulating.

• It shows compatibility with a wide variety of resins including 2-component systems, water-reducible and water-based resins.
• Its well-balanced surface-active functionality provides an excellent combination of hydrophilic and hydrophobic attributes and optimizing the dispersion of almost all pigments and extenders, including such difficult-to disperse pigments as phthalo blue, phthalo green and carbon black.
• It reduces surface tension and produces effective, efficient pigment wetting characteristics.
• Recommended dosage level is 1% to 12% by total weight, depending on the pigments used and other surfactants and vehicles utilized.

Chroma-chem® 844-9451 distributed by DKSH is a high performance, non-aqueous quinacridone violet pigment. It is dispersed in a proprietary acrylic resin vehicle that provides excellent wetting and dispersing properties superior to other acrylic resins available.

• It contains a carefully selected and unique blend of vehicle, solvent, pigment and additives to yield acceptance in a wide range of non-aqueous coatings applications.
• Designed to minimize the dispersing resin and additive levels.
• It is exceptional for the universal tinting of solvent-based industrial coatings.
• Compatible with acrylic, polyester, cellulosic lacquer, vinyl lacquer, chlorinated rubber, alkyd, epoxy and polyurethane.
• It is also compatible with most aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, esters, ethers, ketones, and reactive diluents.
• Chroma-chem® 844-9451 exhibits excellent pigment development and rheological characteristics.
• Used in most non-aqueous industrial coatings including aerosols, concrete protection, general industrial finishes and maintenance, general OEM, marine and protective coatings.
• It has a shelf life of 3 years.

ADDITOL® XL 6521 by allnex is a high molecular wetting and dispersing agent with cationic character for carbon black and organic pigments. It is suitable for solvent-borne, solvent-free and high solid systems such as high-quality car refinish, industrial lacquers, printing inks and pigment pastes. It reduces dispersing time, enhances gloss & leveling, prevents reflocculation of pigment particles and reduces viscosity of pigment pastes. It is suitable for radiation curing systems. The recommended dosage level of ADDITOL® XL 6521 is 10-50% on organic pigments and 50-80% on carbon black. The shelf life of this product is 730 days.

ADDITOL® XL 6594 by allnex is a cationic, high molecular wetting and dispersing agent for inorganic and organic pigments. It is APEO-, aromatic-, and NMP-free grade with low energy consumption. It shortens dispersing time and improves gloss levels.

• Re-flocculation is prevented through steric stabilization and flood and floatfree colors are obtained, especially when blends of pigments are used.
• It shows wide compatibility in different solvent borne resins systems, such as acrylic polyols (APO) for vehicle refinish and industrial coatings, thermoplastic acrylates (TPA), alkyds and OH functional polyesters, aldehyde resin for pigment pastes and epoxy resins.
• It is used in direct grinds together with resins as well as in pigment pastes based on grinding resins.
• Recommended dosage level is 3.0-5.0% (for titanium dioxide), 10.0-20.0% (inorganic pigments), 30.0-60.0% (organic pigments) and 80.0-100.0% (carbon black).
• ADDITOL® XL 6594 has a shelf life of 730 days.
