Dispersants for Coatings and Inks

NUOSPERSE® FX 600 by Elementis is a highly effective pigment dispersing agent. It is a multi-functional polymer, free of organic solvents. It ensures a strong interaction with a wide range of pigments, owing to its multi-functional structure.

• It adsorbed strongly onto inorganic pigments such as titanium dioxide and iron oxides (yellow, red or black) but also onto organic pigments such as fast red, quindo magenta, phthalo blue and green.
• It exhibits optimized stabilization of pigments in aqueous systems.
• It is suitable for use with a wide variety of binders such as baked acrylic dispersions, air-drying alkyds, polyester-melamines, 2-pack epoxies, acrylates.
• It offers high gloss levels, optimal opacity, consistent quality, improved corrosion resistance.
• It provides improved pigment wetting resulting in shorter grind times and cost savings.
• NUOSPERSE® FX 600 is used for waterborne industrial coatings, protective coatings, gloss dispersion paints, colorants, printing inks, also used in pigment concentrates for tinting paints, leather finishes, textiles, plastics, inks, etc. Recommended dosage level as a pigment dispersant 0.5-2.0% for paint, 0.5-3.0% for printing ink and 1-15% for pigment concentrates.
• It has a shelf life of 3 years.

Tallicin® K-9 by Pflaumer Brothers is a polymeric dispersant with multiple anchor groups that can be used to disperse inorganic and organic pigments. It improves pigment wetting, color development and storage stability. It is used in solvent-based coatings, industrial maintenance coatings, offset inks and powder coatings.

• It is effective in reducing viscosity for dispersions of both oxidized and non-oxidized carbon black.
• It allows the formulator to increase the pigment loading in the mill base, thus improving both efficiency and cost of production.
• Recommended dosage level is 2 and 20% based upon pigment weight if the surface area of the pigment is unknown.

Dapro® FX 2060 by Elementis is a highly effective wetting and dispersing agent for various types of organic and inorganic pigments. It is also used as a polar activator for organoclay pregels in place of traditional polar solvents such as ethanol and methanol.

• It increases mill output, ensures maximum tinting strength and full chroma development, and prevents issues such as floating, flooding, and rub-out.
• Dapro® FX 2060 is recommended for use in a wide range of solventborne industrial and architectural coatings to improve pigment wetting and to lower mill viscosity.
• It is suitable for low to medium polarity systems based on alkyds, acrylics, epoxy and PU.
• Recommended dosage level is 0.5-5% by weight.
• It has a shelf life of 1 year.

Tallicin® K-8 by Pflaumer Brothers acts as a dispersing agent. It helps produce a high gloss effect as it eliminates bubbles and craters seen in dip tank applications. it is used to disperse inorganic and organic pigments in a variety of systems such as solvent-based coatings, inks, powder coatings.

• it improves pigment wetting, color development, and storage stability.
• Tallicin® K-8 allows the formulator to reduce the viscosity or increase the pigment loading in the mill base thus improving both efficiency and cost of production.
• it is used in industrial maintenance coatings, offset inks, and product finishes.
• Recommended dosage level is 2 and 20% based upon pigment weight if the surface area of the pigment is unknown.

NUOSPERSE® FA 196 by Elementis is an anionic, highly concentrated liquid pigment dispersing agent for carbon black and organic pigment. It is suitable for thermoplastic acrylic systems and as an auxiliary product to improve the action of universal tinting pastes in basic alkyd paints.

• It offers strong adsorption on a wide range of pigment surfaces, improves color development, gives good and fast dispersion, reduces rub-up and color float, improves compatibility of universal colorants.
• It enables the replacement of various more specific dispersants with just one product.
• NUOSPERSE® FA 196 is used for organic solvent-borne paint and ink systems including oxidatively drying systems and thermoplastic systems.
• It has a shelf life of 3 years from the date of manufacture.
• The recommended dosage level is 0.2-0.4% calculated on the total quantity of alkyd paint.

Terasperse® 2208 by Pflaumer Brothers acts as a dispersing agent for both organic and inorganic pigments. It offers high pigment/binder ratios, excellent color & gloss stability on aging of dispersions and a lower level of grinding resin that provides extra flexibility in formulating. Its hydrophilic and hydrophobic attributes, helps to optimize the dispersion of almost all pigments and extenders such as phthalo blue, phthalo green, synthetic iron oxide, quinacridone pigments and carbon black.

• It reduces surface tension and produces effective pigment wetting characteristics.
• It is compatible with a wide variety of water-reducible and water-based resins.
• Terasperse® 2208 provides good rheology profile at high pigment loadings and improved color acceptance.
• It is designed for water-based systems.
• Its recommended dosage level in millbase is 5-9% based on total weight and in tinting paste is 11-15%.

NUOSPERSE® FX 7600W by Elementis is a waterborne and organic solvent-free wetting and dispersing agent. It is an aqueous solution of surface-active substances and polymers containing multiple anchoring groups. It offers efficient viscosity reduction and outstanding color strength development in carbon black and organic pigments dispersions.

• It is sustainable and shows compatibility with most waterborne formulations.
• It exhibits high efficiency, improved pigment wetting and low foaming.
• It is easy to use and provides viscosity stability and long-term storage capacity.
• It is designed for water-borne inks, industrial coatings and pigment concentrates.
• Recommended usage level is 1-5% for binder resin containing and 5-20% for binder resin-free formulations.
• NUOSPERSE® FX 7600W has a shelf life of 2 years.

NUOSPERSE® 2000 by Elementis is a waterborne wetting and dispersion agent. It is a liquid carrier/ humectant for use in VOC- compliant colorants and pigment dispersions. It is free of organic solvents and nonylphenol ethoxylates, making it environmentally friendly.

• It reduces the tendency of the colorant to dry out during storage or application.
• It offers good water resistance and very good storage stability, pigment wetting and stabilizing properties.
• It stabilizes pigment dispersions and improves dispersing properties.
• Recommended usage level is 5-25%.
• NUOSPERSE® 2000 has a shelf life of 2 years.

Ceridust® 3610 distributed by DKSH is a tough, micronized high density polyethylene wax. The narrow and fine particle size distribution provides an excellent rub resistance and a fast drying time in printing inks.

• It is a dispersing agent and degassing agent to prevent pinhole formation.
• It is recommended for polyolefin, like LLDPE, LDPE, MDPE, HDPE, etc and pasty inks.
• It improves slip properties and enhances scratch resistance in cured powder coatings.
• It also improves the color strength as well as the filter pressure value.
• It provides higher clarity and gloss levels when used in solvent-based coatings compared to standard polyethylene grades.
• It offers excellent water repellence properties in wood coatings.
• It can increase the output during extrusion process to improve the flow ability of the powder.
• Ceridust® 3610 has a shelf life of minimum two years and is available in Malaysia, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam.

LOPON® PO by ICL is sodium polycarboxylate-based dispersing agent for emulsion paints, varnishes and pigment pastes. It offers improved scrubbing resistance and high gloss. It is highly compatible with polyphosphates such as POLYRON® N.

• LOPON® PO is especially suitable for tinting systems and enables good storage stability of paints.
• It provides wetting properties and is solvent-free grade.
• The dosage level of the grade is 0.5-1.0%.
• It has a shelf life of 2 years.
