Defoamers / Anti-foaming Agents for Coatings and Inks

Dispelair® CF 246 distributed by DKSH is a foam control agent and excellent defoamer for water-based coatings. It is effective over a wide range of pH values and temperatures, works efficiently at low concentrations, and helps improve process productivity.

• It is used in low gloss paints and paper coatings.
• A typical addition level is 0.1-0.5% in total depending on the severity of the foam problem.
• Dispelair® CF 246 has a shelf life of 1 year.
• It is available in Canada.

Borchi® Gol 0011 by Borchers (Milliken) is a 100% active, modified polysiloxane flow and air release agent for solvent-based and solvent-free coatings systems. It can reduce pigment floating and provides barrier properties to the cured film.

• It is suitable for high-build systems and can be used in combination with Borchi® Gol E2 in epoxies for enhanced flow and deaeration.
• It improves the surface properties of coatings and destroys air bubbles formed in the film during application.
• Borchi® Gol 0011 can be used in conjunction with suitable moisture scavengers to reduce the formation of carbon dioxide bubbles in polyurethane coatings.
• It is effective with all types of coating application methods.
• It is recommended for industrial flooring-, pipe- & storage tank coatings.
• The dosage is 0.5-3.0% of the total weight of the formulation depending upon the binder system and which property is being addressed.

Borchi® Gol LA 200 by Borchers (Milliken) is a 100% active and VOC-free defoamer, flow- and leveling agent. It is a solvent-free, polyether-modified polysiloxane additive. It is suitable for solvent-free, solvent- and water-based coating systems.

• It provides an improvement in substrate wetting and block and scratch resistance.
• It can quickly remove air bubbles from applied coated surfaces and avoids micro-foam formation at all production stages.
• It can increase surface slip and promotes higher gloss and less haze in cured finishes.
• It is designed for use in general industrial-, decorative-, automotive OEM- and automotive refinish.
• The recommended dosage of Borchi® Gol LA 200 is 0.05-0.30% of the total weight of the formulation depending upon the binder type and which property is being addressed.

Borchi® Gol E2 by Borchers (Milliken) is a silicone-free, flow promoter and air release agent. It helps to eliminate flow defects and craters caused by air entrapment in thick film.

• It is recommended for solvent-based and solvent-free paint systems.
• The efficacy is dependent upon binder type, mixing conditions and application method used.
• It is designed for use in single and multi-component paints.
• The dosage level of Borchi® Gol E2 is 0.5-2.0% of the total weight of the formulation depending upon the binder system and which property is being addressed.

Dapro® BIO 9910 by Elementis is a bio-based defoamer for universal water-based coatings. It is based on vegetable oil/wax components with a small amount of special silicone. It can be used as a sustainable alternative to mineral oil/ petroleum-based conventional defoamer.

• It shows excellent compatibility, effective & fast defoaming performance and very good long-term efficiency
• It can be used in both pigmented and non-pigmented systems.
• It exhibits excellent storage stability due to its unique production process.
• It is suitable for waterborne chemistries such as acrylic, styrene-acrylic & vinyl-polymer.
• It is especially designed for coatings in architectural, industrial and wood segment.
• Recommended dosage is 0.2-0.5% depending on the total quantity of the paint system.
• Dapro® BIO 9910 has a shelf life of 18 months.

Borchi® Burst DFS 900 by Borchers (Milliken) is an economical defoamer that controls regeneration of foam. It is an emulsion of activated silicone oil with a blend of proprietary surfactants. It is suitable for waterborne coatings, emulsion paints, printing inks and other multiple applications. It is easily dispersible in water with a normal stirrer. Recommended dosage level of Borchi® Burst DFS 900 is 0.3-0.8%.

Borchi® Burst DFM 800 by Borchers (Milliken) is a silicone-based, APEO- and VOC free mineral oil defoamer. It is effective in both the grind and let-down stages. It does not cause fisheyes and craters. It is suitable for waterborne coatings, emulsion paints, polymer emulsions and colorants. Recommended dosage level of Borchi® Burst DFM 800 is 0.2-0.5%. It has a shelf life of 12 months.

Borchers® AF T by Borchers (Milliken) is a silicone-free, defoamer based on tri-n-butyl phosphate for use in solvent- and water-based pigment pastes and highly loaded systems. It destroys foam and prevents foam formation.

• Offers slow hydrolysis expected in highly alkaline systems.
• It provides good gloss retention and low haze in formulated systems.
• It is suitable for improving wettability of animal glues.
• It is used in emulsion paints, textile auxiliaries, concrete additive, print-, colored paper- and wallpaper coatings.
• The recommended dosage level of Borchers® AF T is 0.01-0.50% as supplied by the weight of the formula.

Borchi® Gol 1470 by Borchers (Milliken) is a silicone-free defoamer and air release agent for paint applications. It helps to eliminate flow defects and craters caused by air entrapment.

• The efficacy is dependent upon binder type, mixing conditions and application method used.
• It is suitable for all non-polar solvent-containing, solvent-free and solvent-based single and multi-component industrial coatings.
• The dosage level of Borchi® Gol 1470 is 0.05-0.50% of the total weight of the formulation depending upon the binder system.

It is effective at low concentrations, helps with process productivity and shows good compatibility. It is also used in ink and many aqueous systems.
