Combination Driers for Coatings and Inks

ADDITOL® VXW 6206 by allnex is a water-emulsifiable, ethoxylate-free nonylphenyl combination drier of cobalt, lithium and zirconium. It may be added as siccative to all water-borne oxidatively drying alkyd resin paints. ADDITOL® VXW 6206 is lead- and barium-free grade which provides good set-drying combined with an even through-drying. The recommended quantity to be added is 1.0-3.0% calculated on solid resin. The shelf life of this product is 730 days.

ADDITOL® XW 6533 by allnex is a water-emulsifiable, cobalt-free, combination drier. It contains a balanced metal combination which is necessary for an optimum oxidative drying. It may be added as siccative to all water-borne oxidatively drying alkyd resin paints. It offers good set-drying combined with an even through-drying. The recommended quantity to be added is 4-6%, calculated on solid resin. The shelf life of ADDITOL® XW 6533 is 730 days.

Octa-Soligen® 146 by Borchers (Milliken) is a combination drier for oxidatively drying alkyd resins. It improves hardness and exhibits uniform, optimum through-drying of the paint film. It delivers consistent drying performance even after prolonged storage of the coating.

• It is used in pale-colored formulations and conventional alkyd systems like alkyd urethane coatings, and high-solids systems.
• The recommended dosage level of Octa-Soligen® 146 is 3-5% based on solid binder content.

Octa-Soligen® 203 by Borchers (Milliken) is a special combination drier based on cobalt, barium, and zinc. It offers uniform through-drying and prevents wrinkling and skinning.

• It exhibits excellent drier stability and low viscosity.
• It is readily meterable and has a long shelf-life.
• It offers improved drying times even under adverse atmospheric conditions without causing cloudiness and precipitation.
• Octa-Soligen® 203 is used in all binder systems that dry by oxidation, including white and light-colored paints.
• The recommended dosage level is 2-5% based on solid binder content.

Octa-Soligen® 265 by Borchers (Milliken) is a special combination drier dissolved in oil or white spirit. It exhibits perfect synergy of cobalt and manganese, which ensures fast and optimal drying of the applied paints.

• Octa-Soligen® 265 is used in air-drying systems applied in very thin coats, especially for printing inks.
• The recommended dosage level is 3-5% based on the formulation.

Octa-Soligen® 69 HS by Borchers (Milliken) is a lead-free combination drier for VOC-reduced and high-solid coatings. It offers a balanced ratio of the metals cobalt and zirconium, which yields optimum results in respect of initial- and through-drying.

• It offers low viscosity and is readily meterable.
• It prevents cloudiness and precipitation.
• Octa-Soligen® 69 HS is used in binder systems that dry by oxidation, including white and light-colored paints.
• The recommended dosage level is 0.25-1% based on solid binder content.

Borchers® Deca 203 by Borchers (Milliken) is a special combination drier based on cobalt, barium, and zinc. It promotes uniform through-drying while preventing wrinkling and skinning.

• It offers excellent drier stability, low viscosity, and long shelf life.
• It improves drying even under adverse atmospheric conditions without causing cloudiness or precipitation.
• It is recommended for all oxidatively drying binder systems, particularly white and light-colored paints.
• Borchers® Deca 203 is typically used at 2-5% on solid resin, depending on the resin and pigment system.

Octa-Soligen® 173 by Borchers (Milliken) is a special combination drier based on cobalt, barium and zirconium. It exhibits a balanced ratio of the various metal contents, providing optimal results in initial drying and through-drying.

• It offers excellent drier stability, outstanding brightness, good gloss, excellent hardness, and low viscosity.
• It provides better drying times, particularly at high atmospheric humidity and low temperatures.
• Octa-Soligen® 173 is used in all binder systems that dry by oxidation, including white and light-colored paints and automotive refinish coatings.
• The recommended dosage level is 2-5% based on solid binder content.

Octa-Soligen® 144 aqua by Borchers (Milliken) is a combination drier for oxidatively drying alkyd resins. It is a multi-metal mixture for drying light-colored water-based paints.

• It is easily incorporated in aqueous coating systems.
• It exhibits metal synergies which allow keeping the cobalt content to a minimum, thus reducing discoloration and yellowing.
• Octa-Soligen® 144 aqua is suitable for medium- and long-oil alkyds applied at a wet film thickness below 100 microns.
• The recommended dosage level is 4-7%, which is higher in aqueous systems than those used in solvent-based systems.
