Carbon Black for Coatings and Inks

MONARCH® 120 distributed by DKSH is a low structure, specialty, general purpose carbon black. It offers very blue undertone, excellent rub resistance, good viscosity and flow properties.

• It is used as a replacement for a variety of non-carbon black pigments.
• It is recommended for a variety of inks, web offset coldset and letterpress printing inks.
• It is suitable for coatings such as underbody/underhood automotive, general industrial and architectural applications where high jetness is not required.
• MONARCH® 120 is also recommended for use as a tinting black since the large particle size allows for high loading and helps to reduce problems with floating and flooding in liquid coating applications.
• It can be easily dispersed using a single screw extruder for powder coatings.
• It is available in Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and Myanmar.

NUOSPERSE® FA 196 by Elementis is an anionic, highly concentrated liquid pigment dispersing agent for carbon black and organic pigment. It is suitable for thermoplastic acrylic systems and as an auxiliary product to improve the action of universal tinting pastes in basic alkyd paints.

• It offers strong adsorption on a wide range of pigment surfaces, improves color development, gives good and fast dispersion, reduces rub-up and color float, improves compatibility of universal colorants.
• It enables the replacement of various more specific dispersants with just one product.
• NUOSPERSE® FA 196 is used for organic solvent-borne paint and ink systems including oxidatively drying systems and thermoplastic systems.
• It has a shelf life of 3 years from the date of manufacture.
• The recommended dosage level is 0.2-0.4% calculated on the total quantity of alkyd paint.

Chroma-chem® 73-20308 distributed by DKSH is a black pigment dispersion. Offers an effective way to tint UV and PMMA coatings. Provides various degree of functionality to ensure optimal performance in most types of oligomer-based coatings.

• It consists of high quality organic and inorganic pigments finely milled in monomeric carriers.
• It shows excellent color performance in tinting or full pigmentation applications.
• The tint strength of these colorants is controlled by weight to ± 5% to ensure optimal tinting performance for in-plant tinting.
• It is compatible with methyl methacrylate floor coatings.
• It is suitable for automotive, concrete protective, consumer, OEM and wood coatings.
• Chroma-chem® 73-20308 has a shelf life of 6 months.
• It is available in Canada.

Chroma-chem® 50-990-250 distributed by DKSH is a low-VOC, glycol-free, black-colored pigment dispersion for water-based coatings. Offers excellent pigment development, high pigment loading and good rheological properties.

• It provides excellent colorant performance in in-plant coating systems.
• It ensures the maintenance of stability and handling properties.
• It can be used in coatings with slightly acidic or alkaline characteristics.
• Chroma-chem® 50-990-250 tint strength is controlled by weight to +/-3%.
• It is compatible with water-based epoxy & urethane, acrylic, latex and hybrid systems.
• Recommended for automotive interior OEM, industrial maintenance, marine, wood, coil, general OEM, leather finishes and other protective coating applications.
• The shelf life of Chroma-chem® 50-990-250 is 1 year.
• It is available in Canada.

ADDITOL® XW 6532 by allnex is an ionic polymer dispersing- and wetting agent for organic- and carbon black pigments. It is a highly efficient, dissolver- and pearl mill qualified additive. It is recommended for the production of waterborne colorants and low to zero VOC paints. It offers improved color acceptance of universal pigment concentrates.

• It exhibits good pigment wetting, high pigment loading, low pigment floatation and reduced energy consumption.
• It provides improved rheology, color- & shear stability, outdoor durability, water immersion and water spotting.
• The recommended dosage level is 15-50% for organic pigments and 30-100% for carbon black.
• ADDITOL® XW 6532 has a shelf life of 365 days.

MONARCH® 280 distributed by DKSH is a high structure, general purpose, low color carbon black. As a fluffy product, it is a versatile and an easy to disperse carbon black that can be used to replace lamp blacks.

• It can be easily dispersed using a high-speed disperser for liquid coatings or a single screw extruder for powder coatings.
• It is also suitable for underbody/ underhood automotive coatings and general industrial coatings where high jetness is not required.
• It offers blue undertone, excellent hold out and excellent dispersability.
• It is suitable for a variety of tinting applications.
• It is particularly suitable for lithographic and gravure printing where a matte finish is required.
• MONARCH® 280 is available in Belgium, Luxembourg, Myanmar, and Netherlands.

ADDITOL® XL 6521 by allnex is a high molecular wetting and dispersing agent with cationic character for carbon black and organic pigments. It is suitable for solvent-borne, solvent-free and high solid systems such as high-quality car refinish, industrial lacquers, printing inks and pigment pastes. It reduces dispersing time, enhances gloss & leveling, prevents reflocculation of pigment particles and reduces viscosity of pigment pastes. It is suitable for radiation curing systems. The recommended dosage level of ADDITOL® XL 6521 is 10-50% on organic pigments and 50-80% on carbon black. The shelf life of this product is 730 days.

BeaBlack® 6315F-S distributed by DKSH is carbon black that is recommended for industrial- & powder coatings and tinting pastes

REGAL® 660R distributed by DKSH is a low structure, specialty carbon black pigment. It imparts high gloss and high jetness to printing inks and other applications. It is available in an easier to handle pelleted form. With high tinting strength, it is used as a regular color pigment black for liquid and powder coating systems.

• It is used in liquid inks that require low viscosity, high gloss and high jetness.
• It is compatible with both aqueous and non-aqueous systems.
• low structure enables high gloss when printed on non-porous substrates.
• It is recommended for industrial and architectural coatings.
• It is suitable for the production of dispersions for coloring leather articles.
• REGAL® 660R is available in Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Myanmar.

BLACK PEARLS® 570 distributed by DKSH is a high structure general-purpose black pigment. It possesses better jetness with good dispersibility. It exhibits high color intensity with excellent dispersability.

• It is suitable for aqueous newspaper printing inks, flexographic inks, decorative-, industrial-, building products-, powder coatings and leather dispersions applications.
