FX 4
by Eagle Specialty Products
FX 4 by Eagle Specialty Products is a viscosity stabilizer, anti-gelling agent, pigment wetting and dispersing additive. It prevents viscosity increase during manufacture and storage. It stabilizes pigment/vehicle systems that tend to cure or gel over time.
- It is suitable for solvent-based applications.
- It is used to stabilize pigments such as carbon blacks, magnetic iron oxides, nano-sized particles, and other high surface area inorganic and organic pigments.
- It is formulated to be highly effective at low levels without adversely effecting inter-coat adhesion.
- FX 4 eliminates viscosity build-up and gelling caused by premature polymerization or changes in vehicle absorption, especially in systems with driers or high metal content catalysts.
- Additionally, it effectively wets dispersions that are difficult to grind.
- Recommended dosage level is 1-2% based upon mill base weight and 0.5 to 1.0% based upon total formula weight.
BYKANOL® -N
by BYK
BYKANOL® -N by BYK acts as an anti-gelling agent and a viscosity stabilizer for solvent-borne paint systems. Solution of an alkylolammonium salt of acidic phosphoric acid esters and ketoxime. Prevents thickening caused by acidic binders used in combination with basic pigments. BYKANOL® -N also prevents viscosity increase and gelling (upon) storage of air drying and baking enamels. Used in solvent-borne industrial, protective and architectural coatings. Its recommended dosage level is 1-7 %.
XYNOGEL® 170
by K-tech
XYNOGEL® 170 by K-tech is a high performance blend of synergistic anti oxidant. It acts as an anti-gelling agent and viscosity stabilizer. It is environment-friendly and available at a very reasonable price. It provides water-, corrosion-, heat- and abrasion resistance. XYNOGEL® 170 is used in marine, interior wall, traffic, anti-skid and roof coatings.
Afcona -6700
by Afcona Additives
Afcona -6700 by Afcona Additives is based on ketoxime and a phosphorous ester salt that acts as an anti-gel agent and viscosity stabilizer for airdrying as well as stoving coating systems. In air-drying alkyd paints, the ketoxime in Afcona -6700 form a protection layer on the top of the paint to reduce the oxidation caused by oxygen. Addition and dosage: 0.5 - 1.0 % on total formulation.
Borchi® Gen ND plus
by Borchers (Milliken)
Borchi® Gen ND plus by Borchers is a 2-(2-Butoxyethoxy)ethyl dihydrogen phosphate, compound with N,N-dimethylcyclohexylamine. It acts as a wetting-, dispersing- and anti-gelling-agent. Contains 100% active ingredient. Due to its amphiphilic and ionic structure, it has good wetting and dispersing properties even at low dosages and especially with inorganic pigments. It also shortens pigment grinding times appreciably. The gloss, color intensity and leveling properties of the applied coating system are significantly improved. It prevents the settling of pigments and fillers during storage and acts as an anti-gelling agent when basic pigments and acidic binders are used. In systems using metal based catalysts or driers, excessive Borchi® Gen ND plus might cause a prolonged open time and pot life due to complex formation with metal ions. Furthermore, this interaction improves significantly brightening of white and clear coatings based on alkyds and unsaturated polyesters. Mostly used in oil paints, alkyd paints, reaction paints and chlorinated rubber paints. Suitable for solvent-borne and solvent-free industrial coatings as well as waterborne systems such as emulsion paints and water based pigment concentrates. For the formulation of waterborne pigment pastes, a combination of Borchi® Gen ND plus with Borchi® Gen 12 or Borchi® Gen DFN is recommended. The dosage rates are 3-5% for titanium dioxide and 10-15% for other inorganic pigments.
DELTA S® 5700
by Delta Specialties
Solution of ketoxime and phosphorous ester salt. Is an anti-gel agent and viscosity stabilizer. Prevents thickning which can occur as a result of oxidation or condensation of the binder. Reduces the reaction of the pigments with the vehicle. Can significantly prolong the shelf life of a coating. Used in air drying alkyds and stoving coating systems.
XYNOGEL® 179
by K-tech
Blend of organic compounds. Acts as an anti-gelling agent. It is environment-friendly and available at a very reasonable price. Provides water-, corrosion-, heat- and abrasion resistance. Suitable for stoving paints and solvent-based coatings. Applications include marine, interior wall, traffic, anti-skid, and roof coatings.
