Anti-crater Aids for Coatings and Inks

Thetawet™ FS-8020EB by Innovative Chemical Technologies is a 30% active, water soluble, low foaming, anionic fluorosurfactant with tolerance to mineral based fillers (calcium carbonate). It acts as excellent wetting and leveling agent for wetting difficult to wet surfaces (plastics, oily substrates, waxy surfaces), for reduction in coating surface defects and enhanced gloss development for smoother, more even films in finishes & polishes. It does not impart color or change the optical properties of the coating beyond potential gloss or DOI improvement from better reflectance. It shows exceptional stability and functionality in severe thermal & chemical environments, also stable even in highly acidic or basic environments and in hard water without chelation. It is ideal for use in VOC sensitive systems. It is used in industrial and architectural paints & coatings, floor finishes, sealers, automotive finishes & top coats, lacquers and polishes. It is based on short-chain fluorochemical technology which meets the goal of the US EPA 2010/2015 PFOA Stewardship Program. Recommended dosage level of Thetawet™ FS-8020EB is 0.01-0.05%. It has a shelf life of 12 months.

Thetawet™ FS-8020DB by Innovative Chemical Technologies is a 30% active, water soluble, moderate foaming, anionic fluorosurfactant containing a low vapor pressure solvent. It acts as wetting and leveling agent. It is excellent for wetting difficult to wet surfaces (such as plastics, oily substrates, waxy surfaces) and for reduction in coating surface defects and enhanced gloss development for smoother, more even films in finishes & polishes. It partially replaces coalescent solvents for further VOC formulation reductions. It does not impart color or change the optical properties of the coating beyond potential gloss or DOI improvement from better reflectance. It shows exceptional stability and functionality in severe thermal & chemical environments, also stable even in highly acidic or basic environments and in hard water without chelation. It is ideal for use in VOC sensitive systems. It is used in industrial and architectural paints & coatings, floor finishes, sealers, automotive finishes & top coats, lacquers and polishes. Efka® SL 3033 by BASF is an organically modified polysiloxane that acts as a slip-control-, anti-cratering-, abrasion resistant-, anti-blocking- and leveling- agent.

• It prevents floating and cratering and enhances anti-blocking characteristics.
• It imparts good compatibility properties.
• It is ued in solvent-based coatings.
• Efka® SL 3033 has the recommended dosage level of 0.1–1.0%.
• It has a shelf life of 4 years.

TEGO® Glide 496 distributed by DKSH is an outstanding slip and touch properties without compromising recoatability and compatibility. It exhibits excellent leveling and anti-crater properties. It is used in architectural-, wood-, transportation-, can-, coil-, decorative-, general industrial coatings and printing inks.

TEGO® Airex 986 distributed by DKSH is a defoamer for solvent borne coatings. Offers good compatibility, and suitable for clear and pigmented formulations. It is used in flexographic-, gravure printing inks, general industrial-, can-, coil-, architectural-, dip-, flow-, curtain-, self levelling floor- and decorative coating applications.

• Recommended usage level is 0.2 to 1.0%.

TEGO® Airex 902 W distributed by DKSH is a highly effective and compatible deaerator emulsion based on polyether siloxane technology. Outstandingly effective against micro- and macro-foam. It is used in printing inks, can-, coil-, industrial, architectural and decorative coatings. It is highly compatible and highly suitable for medium- to low-viscosity formulations.

• It has a shelf life of 12 months.
• Recommended usage level is 0.1 to 3.0%.

ADDITOL® XL 490 FLOW (Old Name: ADDITOL® XL 490) by allnex is a leveling and anti-crater agent for enhancing the surface quality of paint film, without silicone addition. It is APEO-, NMP-, and tin-free grade. It is used in powder coatings systems on binder systems such as alkyds, epoxy, melamine, acrylic, polyurethane systems and oil-free polyester.

• ADDITOL® XL 490 FLOW prevents surface defects, craters or poor leveling and improves gloss.
• The level of addition is 0.1-2% on solid resin.
• It has a shelf life of 730 days.

TEGO® Flow ATF 2 distributed by DKSH is a highly effective anti-crater properties for solvent-borne coatings. It is a low foam and offers flow promotion, anti-block- and slip effect. It is used in architectural paints, can-, coil-, decorative-, general industrial-, floor coatings, printing- and screen inks. Recommended usage level is 0.1-0.5%. It has a shelf life of 36 months. TEGO® Flow ATF 2 is available in APAC region (Indonesia, Myanmar, Thailand, and Philippines).

TEGO® Airex 931 distributed by DKSH is a defoamer and deaerator for solvent borne coatings, effective against macrofoam. It is widely used in clear- and pigmented formulations for solvent borne coatings. It is highly efficient with good compatibility. It is used in printing inks, protective-, wood-, general industrial-, floor-, can-, coil-, industrial-, architectural- and decorative coating applications.

• Recommended usage level is 0.1 to 1.0%.

It improves leveling, slip, surface smoothness, and gloss. It prevents floating, cratering and increases scratch and abrasion resistance. Efka® SL 3299 is used in solvent-based wood coatings. Recommended usage level is 0.05–0.3% on total formulation.
