Syensqo to Exhibit New Additives, Specialty Monomers & Green Solvents at ECS 2025

Last update on Feb 14, 2025

Syensqo will showcase new additives, specialty monomers and green solvents at this year's European Coatings Show (ECS) in Nüremberg, Germany. Visit Syensqo at Booth 420 in Hall 1. The company's latest innovations are designed to enable step-change improvements in the durability and sustainability profile of paint and coating formulations.

Safer Solutions for Better Living

Syensqo's exhibit at ECS 2025 builds on three pillars to meet the industry's sustainability needs: solutions for safety improvements, decarbonization and durability enhancement.

"The paint and coatings industry is striving for safer and more eco-friendly formulations with comparable or superior performance to incumbent solutions. As an innovative company dedicated to anticipating the needs of the coatings market, we are proud to join the industry at this pivotal event, sharing our latest innovations with our trusted partners," said Corinne Duffy, market director, Coatings, EMEA at Syensqo.

The first pillar of Syensqo's ECS platform features food-contact-approved, label-free, low-dioxane and fluorosurfactant-free solutions for architectural and industrial paints. A key highlight in this category is Rhodoline® HBR, a new substrate wetting agent for waterborne coatings and paints.

This fluorosurfactant free specialty additive shows exceptional early hot block resistance (HBR), which refers to a coating's ability to resist sticking or softening under high temperatures or pressure. It also provides dirt pick-up and stain resistance.

Decarbonization Solutions Supporting Business Growth

Aiming to drive business growth through decarbonization, Syensqo is presenting low-carbon-footprint solutions and partially bio-based products.

The Rhodiasolv® range of green solvents is designed to deliver sustainable performance across a wide array of applications, from industrial processes to consumer products. Made from circular raw materials, Rhodiasolv® solvents offer lower risk, high performance, and compliance with local and international environmental regulations, ensuring a safer and more sustainable future for all.

Additionally, Syensqo's new wetting and dispersing agent, Rhodoline® 6100, enhances pigment paste formulations, which are concentrated mixtures of pigments that add color to paints, coatings or inks. Rhodoline® 6100 offers strong tinting power, excellent color consistency and long-lasting stability. It helps paints spread easily for a smooth, even finish.

The product is low in volatile organic compounds (VOCs), free of alkylphenol ethoxylates (APEs) and is made with 33% bio-based materials. Versatile and unique, Rhodoline® 6100 works well with both solvent-borne alkyds and water-based systems, offering compatibility with a wide range of pigments and binders.

Solutions for Improved Durability

In an effort to improve coatings durability without sacrificing performance, Syensqo is featuring:

  • Addibond™ 106: Specifically designed for waterborne coating formulations, this adhesion promoter additive helps metal coatings maintain their adhesive properties once dried and when exposed to moisture or water (i.e., dry and wet adhesion). Addibond™ 106 effectively protects metal surfaces from rust and corrosion in C1 and C2 environments.
  • Sipomer® MAC: This next-generation specialty monomer has been engineered to improve adhesion and provide excellent corrosion protection in direct-to-metal (DTM) coating formulations, which refers to coatings applied to metallic surfaces without a primer, meeting the requirements for medium-risk (C3) and high-risk (C4) corrosion environments.

In addition to these innovative products, Syensqo will showcase its architectural and industrial binder solutions, further demonstrating its comprehensive offer for the paint and coatings industry.
