Kuraray to display diols and polyols at CHINACOAT 2025
Last update on Oct 27, 2025
Kuraray, a specialty chemicals company with headquarters in Japan and Kuraray America, Inc., which is located in Houston, will be presenting diols (MPD and ND) and polyols at CHINACOAT 2025 (Booth W1.E54). The event will take place from 25-27 November 2025 at Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC), China.
Key raw materials for high-performance urethane coating systems
Kuraray polyols and diols are key raw materials for high-performance urethane coating systems.
Kuraray has polyester/polycarbonate polyols. Kuraray polyol has various molecular weights, amorphous and liquid, with low viscosity at room temperature. They are also used as base materials in urethane acrylate, a urethane coating resin that combines flexibility and excellent adhesion, making it highly suitable for PCB coating applications.
MPD (3-Methyl-1,5-pentanediol) is a diol which is an isomer of 1,6-hexanediol. MPD is amorphous, giving excellent properties to polyurethanes. It exhibits outstanding softness, high transparency and compatibility, owing to the methyl branch in the middle of its structure.
ND (1,9-nonanediol) is a C9 diol with a straight-chain alkyl group. Due to its long chain length, it has a relatively high melting point, but its viscosity drops sharply when the temperature reaches around 60°C.
Through these materials, Kuraray contributes to more durable and reliable coating technologies that support next-generation electronics.
Kuraray will also introduce a technical booklet about urethane acrylate at CHINACOAT 2025.
