Last update on Jun 1, 2026

Formulators and coatings specifiers sourcing epoxy resins from Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (MCC) should note that the company has announced the discontinuation of production and sales of selected epoxy resin grades at its Tokai Plant Kawajiri site in Yokkaichi City, Mie Prefecture, planned for September 30, 2027.

You can access Mitsubishi Chemical’s full product range directly in the Master Catalog of Coatings.

Grades in question

The grades affected are:

  • Bisphenol A liquid epoxy resin (*)
  • Bisphenol F liquid epoxy resin
  • Liquid/solid epoxy resins manufactured by using Bisphenol A liquid epoxy resin, Bisphenol F liquid epoxy resin and a number of curing agents

MCC has indicated that continuing production of these grades is no longer viable due to the aging of production equipment and a difficult business environment.

These resins are currently used across a range of applications including paints and adhesives. For some Bisphenol A liquid epoxy resin products, MCC expects to outsource production in order to continue sales.

MCC will continue to supply special epoxy resins for semiconductor encapsulants and electronic materials.

*For some products, we expect to outsource production in order to continue sales.
