Arkema’s PCF calculation methodology validated & certified by TÜV Rheinland
Last update on Oct 8, 2025
Arkema announces that its product carbon footprint (PCF) calculation methodology has been validated and certified by TÜV Rheinland according to the ISO 14067:2018 standard.
Strategic step towards sustainability
The TÜV Rheinland certification ensures that the PCF methodology used for calculating individual PCF shared with customers are robust and in accordance with ISO 14067:2018 standard. The calculation scope is ‘cradle to gate’. Emissions of raw materials used, energy consumed, direct emissions generated, and waste streams generated during the manufacture of a product are therefore taken into account. The calculation is notably based on Arkema’s internal site-specific data, primary raw material data received from suppliers as well as external secondary databases.
In parallel to the certification process of its calculation methodology, Arkema also developed internally a digital tool to calculate the carbon footprint of its products. This tool was included in the TÜV Rheinland certification process, ensuring that no quality gap arises between formerly manually assessed PCFs and those calculated with the tool.

Thanks to the commitment of the teams and the roll-out of the automated tool, Arkema will accelerate its journey and the targeted 90% of sales covered by a LCA by 2030, while benefiting from stronger expertise to collaborate with its business units, suppliers and customers in their quest for sustainable performance.
