allnex launches cost-effective pigment dispersing additive
Last update on Apr 4, 2025
allnex, an industrial coating resins and additives supplier, announces the next innovation in the additives product line, the ADDITOL® XW 6596. The ADDITOL® XW 6596 is a highly efficient, cost-effective dispersing additive created for all types of pigments, including difficult to process organic types.
Suitable for WB coatings & flexo graphic inks
For non-scientists, when a quality finish product (paint, coating or ink) is needed, it's critical that a superior pigment dispersing process is used (including wetting, dispersing and stabilizing steps). Without this, users run the risk of the finished product being patchy and not having a consistent color throughout - plus other undesirable side effects.
- Wetting: Pigment naturally bond together (clump), and 'wetting' means replacing the spaces between the pigment particles with the dispersing agent, getting them ready for the next step.
- Dispersing: The process of breaking down the pigment particles into tiny pieces, also called primary particles - this is what ensures even color development and hiding power.
- Stabilizing: Once fine particle distribution is obtained during the dispersing step, the pigment still wants to stick together - stabilization and flocculation control prevents this and provides the consistent color customers are looking for. ADDITOL® XW 6596 offers near to zero ion migration, allowing formulation even in sensitive binder systems.
ADDITOL® XW 6596 ensures stable pigment concentrates for a wide field of applications in both water-based coatings and flexo graphic inks - meaning less pigment needs to be used in the process and offering valued cost-savings to our customers.
Benefits of the ADDITOL® XW 6596 include:
- Avoidance of pigment flocculation
- Excellent pigment stability
- Outstanding color strength with organic pigments above standard
