SYLVARES™ 540 by KRATON is phenol-modified copolymer of styrene and alpha methyl styrene. It contains polar groups and offers low glass transition temperature. It can be used to control open time and hot tack of hot melt adhesives for bookbinding and hygienic care products. It imparts good adhesion, light color and thermal stability to "water white resin". SYLVARES™ 540 is suitable for use in packaging, bookbinding and woodworking. It is compatible with styrene phase of SBCs, EVAs, polyurethane, paraffin, microcrystalline, FT and polyethylene waxes.
