AMS -242 by Gelest (Mitsubishi Chemical) is (3-5% aminoethylaminopropylmethylsiloxane)- (95-7% dimethylsiloxane) copolymer. Acts as release agent. AMS -242 is an aminoisobutyl modified and its additional reactivity can be built into aminoalkyl groups in the form of alkoxy groups. This aminoalkylfunctional silicone has a broad array of applications as a result of its chemical reactivity, ability to form hydrogen bonds and chelating ability particularly in the case of diamines. AMS -242 is used in modification of polymers such as epoxies as well as urethanes and in encapsulant applications.
