Securikett introduces tamper-evident labels for DPP compliance

Last update on Jul 8, 2026

Under the EU's upcoming Digital Product Passport (DPP) rules, a product's QR code or identifier has to stay readable and linked to its data record for the item's entire life, not just until the label peels off. That requirement puts real pressure on adhesive selection, especially for difficult substrates such as wood, where standard label adhesives often lose grip over time or under variable humidity and temperature. Securikett has developed a label addressing exactly this pressure.

You can explore adhesive ingredients for labels, signs, and decals used in wood applications directly in the Master Catalog of Adhesives.

High-tack adhesive bonds securely to wood

Securikett has developed a label that combines an exceptionally strong adhesive layer with a durable label construction, designed to remain securely attached throughout a product's entire lifecycle, including on demanding surfaces such as wood. According to Securikett, the adhesive withstands long-term use and demanding environmental conditions. That means the QR code and product information stay available for years without a mid-life relabeling job, supporting traceability, regulatory compliance, and product transparency across different industries and surfaces.

"The Digital Product Passport introduces the requirement that product data must remain accessible. This creates a significant technical challenge, particularly in ensuring that identifiers remain readable and linked to reliable data sources over time," says Vanessa Mitterer-Kling, head of R&D at Securikett. "These new labels address this challenge by combining a highly durable adhesive with robust code integrity."

For added security, the label can be equipped with Securikett's VOID technology. When removed, it leaves a permanent, irreversible tamper-evident message, making any interference immediately visible. This prevents the label from being reapplied to another product. It also helps safeguard the integrity of the original item, an added layer of protection for formulators working on products where authenticity and traceability both matter.

The label solution is backed by Securikett's traceability platform, Codikett 2.0, which manages and continuously updates the availability of digital product data in line with DPP requirements.
