New self-curable acrylate resin from iGM Resins for sensitive applications

Formulators working on UV and LED systems can now evaluate Photomer® SC91, a self-curable acrylate resin introduced by iGM Resins that integrates photoinitiator functionality directly into the polymer backbone.
UV Hg or UV LED curing with no external photoinitiator
Photomer® SC91 is classified as a Type II photoactive resin. Photoinitiating groups are incorporated into the resin structure rather than added as discrete components. According to iGM Resins, this allows UV Hg or UV LED curing with no external photoinitiator, or with only minimal addition depending on the formulation.

The supplier reports that this Type II photoactive concept combines acrylate and photoinitiator technologies in a single polymeric material. As a result, the photoinitiator part remains chemically bound.
