Kuraray to Showcase Innovative Diols & Polyols at UTECH Southeast Asia

Last update on Nov 6, 2024

Kuraray announces its participation at UTECH Southeast Asia 2024, where it will showcase its innovative range of diols and polyols for advanced polyurethane (PUR) applications.

Kuraray will be at booth #E18 at the event, which will take place from November 13th to 14th at the Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.

Innovations to be Showcased

Diols

  • MPD (3-methyl-1,5-pentanediol): Known for its high hydrolysis resistance. It offers outstanding softness, high transparency and compatibility to polyurethanes.
  • ND (1,9-Nonanediol): Imparts strength, improves transparency and flexibility to polyurethanes.

Polyols

Kuraray's portfolio includes both polyester and polycarbonate polyols, available in various molecular weights, amorphous and liquid with low viscosity at room temperature. These polyols are particularly suited for applications in adhesives, coatings, and polyurethane dispersions etc. due to their softness, solvent compatibility, and polyol compatibility.

Kuraray Polyol grades are based on their composition

  • P series: polyester polyols
  • F series: trifunctional polyester polyols
  • C series: polycarbonate polyols

Characteristics of Polyurethanes with Different Polyols

  • Softness: Kuraray Polyol enhances softness while maintaining durability.
  • Water resistance: Kuraray Polyol gives better water resistance to polyurethanes than conventional polyester polyols.
  • Abrasion resistance: Polyurethanes based on Kuraray Polyol are superior to polyurethanes based on polyether polyol.
  • Heat resistance: Polyurethanes based on Kuraray Polyol are superior to polyurethanes based on PTMEG.
