Henkel opens modernized Packaging Competence Center in Düsseldorf
Last update on May 20, 2026
Formulators and packaging engineers working on adhesive selection now have access to Henkel Adhesive Technologies' modernized Packaging Competence Center in Düsseldorf. The facility is equipped with new production-scale machinery supplied by Nordmeccanica, enabling hands-on validation of adhesive solutions under conditions that replicate industrial manufacturing environments.

Supports testing across flexible packaging applications
The center supports testing across flexible packaging applications, including lamination for mono-material and recyclable structures. According to Henkel, the modernization builds on a strategic partnership with Nordmeccanica announced in May 2025, focused on innovation and sustainability in flexible packaging. The facility also includes an updated testing area for pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) applications, and UV activation and measurement equipment, extending coverage to specialty tapes and labels.

The Packaging Competence Center connects to Henkel's neighboring Inspiration Center Düsseldorf, covering steps from adhesive chemistry development through application testing, industrial validation, and recyclability assessment. Henkel states the combined infrastructure maps the full product lifecycle from design phase to end-of-life testing.
Henkel also offers technical training programs linked to the center, including the Converter's Academy and PSA Academy, designed to support formulators in understanding current application technologies and transferring them into production.
