Bakelite Synthetics has been awarded a Gold Medal by EcoVadis, a globally recognized leader in business sustainability ratings. This prestigious distinction places Bakelite in the top 5% of more than 130,000 companies assessed worldwide. 

Bakelite Synthetics’ Gold Medal reflects a strong and steadily advancing sustainability performance, driven by the implementation of new policies, operational enhancements, expanded public reporting, and focusing on sustainability initiatives such as Responsible Care and ISCC Plus.

Key operational actions

  • Installing solar panels at Bakelite sites in Barry (UK), Lantaron (Spain), and Kitee (Finland) 
  • Adding a steam turbine at Botlek (Netherlands) facility.  
  • Advancing water reuse at U.S. sites in Eugene and Albany (OR) 
  • Leveraging a new chiller system at Louisville (KY) to reduce water consumption
