Olefins / Unsaturated Monomers for Plastic Compounds

NEODENE® 8 by Shell is high purity 1-ocetene made by the shell higher olefin process (SHOP) by the oligomerization of ethylene. NEODENE® 8 is used as a comonomer for the polymerization processes to make linear low-density polyethylene.

NEODENE® 15181O by Shell is made by the shell higher olefins process (SHOP) by the oligomerization of olefins. NEODENE® 15181O is also known as SHOP C15-C18 internal olefin.

Bicyclo-[2.2.1] heptane (Synonyms: 2-Norbornylene, 2-Norbornene and Norcamphene). It is made by the Diels-Alder reaction of cyclopentadiene and ethylene, two readily available hydrocarbons. The resulting molecule, a bicyclic olefin, is a bridged six-membered ring with a double bond on one side. The bridged ring puts extra strain on the double bond, making it highly reactive and useful in organic chemical synthesis. Reactions include ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP), radical or cationic polymerization, and vinyl or addition polymerization. Norbornene is a liquid with low viscosity above 47 °C. Solid norbornene has a high solubility in common organic solvents as for example in acetone and in aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic solvents. Used in high-damping rubber and in the manufacture of COC polymers. 2-Norbornene is listed in the following international chemical inventories: EINECS Number 207-866-0, SWISS Number G-4815, TSCA, NDSL, AICS, ENCS Number 4-1763 (MITI) and PICCS.

Octene-1 (C8) by SABIC is a colorless liquid. Octene-1 (C8) can be used as a co-monomer in the production of low-density polyethylene as well as in the production of plasticizer alcohols and other derivatives.

PROPYLENE by SABIC is a propene. Acts as a monomer. It is a non-toxic, non-corrosive, colorless gas with very little odor. PROPYLENE burns readily in the presence of oxygen with a luminous flame. Used in the production of polypropylene, acrylonitrile, propylene glycols, cumene, butyraldehydes, acrolein and other products.

ETHYLENE by SABIC is ethene. Acts as a monomer. It is a non-toxic, non-corrosive, colorless gas with very little odor. ETHYLENE burns readily in the presence of oxygen with a luminous flame. ETHYLENE is used in the production of polyethylene, ethylene dichloride, ethanol, styrene, glycols and many other products.

NORYL PPX™ 630 resin is a resin with 30% glass reinforced alloy of polyphenylene ether (PPE) + polypropylene (PP). This injection moldable grade exhibits high elongation and high stiffness along with temperature performance, impact resistance, hydrolytic and dimensional stability. NORYL PPX™ 630 resin is an excellent candidate for hot water system exteriors, condensate housings and printer internals. It is available in Asia.

Isoprene (Braskem) by Braskem is a high purity monomer. It is used in rubber, SIS, IR / IIR (rubber/automotive) applications.

Dicyclopentadiene by Braskem is a monomer obtained through the C5 stream. It is used as a raw material in the production of various resins, such as polyesters and hydrocarbon resins in rubber. Dicyclopentadiene offers excellent stiffness, strength, wide temperature range of application, high-quality surface finish, and outstanding electrical insulation.

Decene-1 (C10) by SABIC is a colorless liquid. Used in the production of polyalphaolefins, polyol ester, plasticizer alcohols, epoxides and other derivatives.
